All members are welcome to attend the meeting. This is an opportunity for OTs to receive information both locally and provincially as well as share concerns and ideas.
The Elementary Teacher and OT Locals are holding a Community Forum on Public Education on
Wednesday, April 26,
7:30 – 9:00 p.m.,
at the Italian Cultural Centre, 132 S. Algoma St.
Our goal is to increase public engagement in education issues, particularly at the elementary level. We are looking for input, and to build connections with, those who want to improve education provincially and locally.
The forum will consist of 3 panelists to share their perspectives:
Cindy Spackman, elementary teacher,
Diane Walker, CEO Thunder Bay Children’s Centre,
Lawrence Baxter, Aboriginal Education Advisory Committee for LPS.
Following the panelists there will be opportunities for small and large group discussion.
We are hoping this forum will be one way to build support for public education. Please spread the word to your friends, family, and Facebook groups.
More information is available at www.buildingbetterschools.ca
Recently a few of our members attended the ETFO Math that Matters for Occasional Teachers Institute in Toronto. They were exploring various instructional strategies, tools and resources that would benefit long term and daily OTs. This information will be shared at an upcoming local math workshop.

Location: Victoria Park
