The Lakehead OT Local has two workshops planned for May:
Aboriginal Perspective in Children’s Books

Aboriginal Education Resource Teacher
Participants will have an opportunity to explore a variety of children’s literature that includes Aboriginal perspective, and will use a variety of literacy/instructional methods to deliver the message of the text. The resources used in this session will come from the First Peoples Resource Collection, which are available in all Lakehead elementary schools.
Engaging the Aboriginal Learner

Participants will have an opportunity to become familiar with some of the challenges that the Aboriginal learner is faced with (academically and personally), and what teaching strategies would engage the learner.
