ETFO and the Public School Boards Association have reached a deal. Now the real work begins. Previously scheduled strike votes are on hold. Every teacher local in the province must have an agreement by April 24, 2009. The agreement will be for four years and will contain raises retroactive to September 1, 2008.
Occasional teachers will receive the same raises as contract teachers. In 2009-10 there will be an additional 3.5% available for occasional teacher contracts. There are a number of working conditions that must be discussed during this round of negotiations, but there is no requirement that there be an agreement on them.
